A complete MAPEI radiant floor heating system is engineered to provide consistent warmth under various floor coverings. The core component is either the Mapeheat cable (for flexible layout) or the self-adhesive Mapeheat mat (for faster installation). To manage the system, a programmable thermostat is paired with a floor sensor; the sensor is mandatory, as it prevents the assembly from overheating, which could damage the tile or the subfloor. Installation requires specialized setting materials. You must use MAPEI mortars that are specifically rated for radiant heating to accommodate the constant thermal expansion and contraction cycles. If the subfloor requires leveling before installing the heating elements, you must use compatible self-leveling underlayments. We highly recommend that these systems be installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications, as improper mortar choice or sensor placement can lead to localized tile cracking or heating failure. Professional electrical and flooring installation is strongly recommended.
