Trivets reduce thermal shock and protect sealers, seams, adhesives, and surrounding materials even when the stone itself tolerates heat.
Natural stone can crack when one area changes temperature rapidly. Seam adhesive and sink-support materials may have lower heat resistance than the slab. Dark cookware can also leave metal marks or residue. A trivet distributes heat and protects the entire countertop assembly.
