Epoxy grout is commonly made from resin, hardener, pigments, and aggregate rather than primarily cement. It is considered for commercial kitchens, laboratories, healthcare areas, food-service spaces, restrooms, and other environments exposed to staining or aggressive maintenance. Epoxy grout can provide excellent performance, but it requires careful mixing, placement, washing, timing, and temperature control. Residue left on the tile surface can be difficult to remove after curing. The grout must be compatible with the tile, joint size, chemicals, cleaning procedures, and expected temperatures. Some textured or porous tiles may require additional preparation or testing.
