Verify that the exact tile is approved for exterior use, climate exposure, freeze-thaw conditions, wet traction, and the planned installation method.
Porcelain is often suitable outdoors because of low water absorption, but not every finish or product is approved for every exterior application. A covered porch, vertical wall, pool deck, and uncovered patio create different requirements. The substrate, drainage, slope, mortar, grout, movement joints, and sealant must also be exterior rated.
