Homogeneous sheet vinyl is manufactured as a dense, continuous resilient material with similar composition from the surface through the body of the product. Because the design is not limited to a thin printed layer, scratches and wear may be less visually disruptive than on some layered products. Homogeneous flooring is often considered for healthcare, education, laboratories, corridors, and institutional environments. It can be installed with heat-welded seams and flash-coved edges where a more continuous, cleanable surface is needed. Substrate preparation is critical because irregularities can telegraph through the sheet. Maintenance procedures vary. Some products use factory-applied coatings or low-maintenance surfaces, while others may require different finishing and polishing systems.

Key considerations

  • homogeneous sheet vinyl flooring, commercial sheet vinyl, through body vinyl flooring
  • homogeneous sheet vinyl, commercial vinyl, resilient flooring
  • heavy traffic, cleanability, through-body wear
  • uniform construction, weldable seams, flash-cove compatibility
