Static loads differ from rolling loads because the weight remains stationary. Concentrated pressure can indent resilient flooring, compress backing, affect adhesive, or mark the substrate. The published load value must be interpreted according to the manufacturer's test method. It does not mean every object below that total weight can be placed directly on the floor without risk. Contact area is critical. A heavy cabinet supported by broad plates distributes weight differently than a lighter object resting on narrow feet. Protective plates, wider glides, equipment pads, or specialized flooring may be needed. The substrate, adhesive, duration of loading, temperature, and flooring construction also affect performance.
Key considerations
- commercial flooring static load limit, resilient flooring heavy equipment, flooring indentation from furniture
- commercial resilient flooring, static load, flooring indentation
- indentation resistance, equipment support, dimensional stability
- published load rating, concentrated-pressure evaluation, system compatibility
