Carpet tile should remain flat and stable when installed according to the complete flooring system requirements. Lifted corners or edges indicate that one or more parts of the installation are not performing as intended. Potential causes include insufficient adhesive coverage, using the wrong adhesive, placing tiles outside the adhesive's working window, dust or residue on the substrate, moisture movement, extreme temperature changes, or tiles installed before proper conditioning. Heavy rolling traffic, incorrect replacement procedures, or damaged tile backing can also contribute. In some installations, pressure-sensitive adhesive must remain tacky enough to allow future removal while still holding the tiles securely. Repairs should begin by identifying the cause. Simply adding adhesive beneath a lifted edge may not provide a lasting correction if moisture, contamination, or dimensional movement remains.

Key considerations

  • commercial carpet tile edges lifting, carpet tile corners curling, loose carpet tile repair
  • carpet tile, pressure-sensitive adhesive, commercial carpet
  • dimensional stability, bond strength, traffic resistance
  • flat installation, replaceable modules, stable backing
