Marble can absorb oils, wine, cosmetics, and pigments through pores and fissures. A compatible sealer provides additional cleanup time. Acidic liquids still react with calcium-based stone and create dull etched areas, even when the marble is sealed. The sealer should be selected for the finish and renewed when absorption indicates it is needed.
