A rigid slab should not be forced to follow severely uneven cabinet tops. Small approved shims may correct limited variation, but major problems require cabinet adjustment. Cabinets must also be securely attached to walls and one another. Large islands and peninsulas should be checked for twist, movement, and consistent height before templating.

Key considerations

  • structural stability
  • seam durability
  • surface flatness
  • continuous support
  • secure cabinetry
  • measured preparation
