Engineered wood is composed of layers bonded together. While more stable than solid wood, it remains highly sensitive to moisture and extreme heat. Steam mops work by forcing pressurized steam into the surface; this moisture can seep into the joints or the edges of the veneer, causing the wood to expand and the layers to separate. Most manufacturers explicitly void their warranties if a steam mop is used. Stick to dry cleaning methods or light misting with a manufacturer-approved wood cleaner instead.
