A small burn may be trimmed, color repaired, or patched with matching carpet depending on its depth and size.
A superficial singe may affect only the yarn tips. A deeper burn can melt synthetic fibers, damage backing, and affect cushion beneath the carpet. Cutting away damage without replacing missing yarn can create a visible low spot. Matching carpet from attic stock or a hidden location may be used for a bonded insert.
