VersaBond is a reliable, cost-effective mortar suited for standard tile projects. It is designed to bond to common interior and exterior substrates, including concrete, cement backer board, and properly prepared plywood, provided the subfloor satisfies all stiffness and deflection requirements. It provides a strong, durable bond for ceramic and porcelain tile in typical residential areas such as entryways and baths. It is important to understand the limitations of this product. VersaBond is not engineered to support large-format tile (LFT), nor is it designed for heavy-traffic commercial areas or demanding exterior applications where structural movement is extreme. If you are installing stone or very large tiles, a different mortar grade would be required to prevent future failure. Always check the technical data sheet for compatibility with your specific tile and substrate. Proper surface cleaning and priming, where necessary, are key to a lasting installation, even with standard-duty mortars.
