Liquid seam sealers are commonly used with certain residential and commercial sheet products when approved by the manufacturer. Heat welding creates a visible welded joint and is often specified for homogeneous vinyl, linoleum, healthcare flooring, and other institutional applications. The two methods are not interchangeable. Flooring composition, backing, installation timing, seam preparation, sanitation requirements, and manufacturer instructions determine the approved method. Neither system can compensate for poor sheet alignment, contamination, weak adhesive bond, or substrate movement.

Key considerations

  • sheet vinyl seam sealer vs heat weld, commercial resilient seams, vinyl flooring seam methods
  • seam sealer, heat welding, sheet vinyl
  • seam integrity, cleanability, moisture control
  • chemical seam closure, welded seam, manufacturer-specific methods
