Raised-access floors are commonly used in data centers, control rooms, offices, laboratories, and buildings that need flexible access to underfloor utilities. The panels may be covered with carpet tile, resilient flooring, high-pressure laminate, rubber, or other approved finishes. Some panels are supplied with a factory-applied surface, while others receive flooring after installation. Finished flooring must accommodate panel removal and must not interfere with system access. Carpet tile is frequently used because individual modules can align with or bridge panel layouts according to project requirements. Panel stability, rolling loads, grounding, transitions, height, air leakage, and replacement access must all be considered.
