PTT stands for polytrimethylene terephthalate. It is chemically related to polyester but is classified separately in many flooring discussions because of its molecular structure and performance. The fiber can provide softness and resistance to many common household stains. Some products use partially bio-based ingredients, depending on the manufacturer. PTT carpet still varies by density, pile construction, backing, color method, and traffic rating. The fiber should be evaluated through the complete product specification and warranty rather than assumed to perform identically across every collection.
