Floating floors expand and contract as temperature conditions change. When the floor is trapped beneath cabinets, tight trim, door jambs, or heavy fixed objects, pressure can build within the installation. The stress may force joints upward, creating raised edges or ridges. Excessive underlayment softness, substrate unevenness, and damaged locking profiles can produce a similar appearance. The perimeter, transitions, room dimensions, and fixed objects should be inspected before attempting a repair. Removing only the raised plank may not correct the condition if pressure remains elsewhere in the floor.
