Preparation is critical for a successful LVP installation. First, verify the subfloor is structurally sound and free from moisture, oil, or wax. Sweep and vacuum the entire surface to remove dust. If the subfloor is concrete, test for moisture emissions; if it is wood, ensure all panels are securely fastened and flush. Use a high-quality cementitious leveling compound to fill dips or joints. Finally, verify flatness with a straightedge; most manufacturers require a variance of no more than 3/16 inch over a 10-foot span. Install a moisture barrier or underlayment only if explicitly approved by the product instructions.
