Concrete can be cast in place or fabricated offsite. Pigments, aggregates, edge forms, and embedded materials allow extensive customization. Hairline cracks and color variation may develop as part of the material's natural behavior. Larger structural cracks can indicate support or fabrication problems. Sealer determines much of the countertop's stain and chemical performance. Hot pans, acidic liquids, and harsh cleaners may damage some sealers. Concrete is heavy, so cabinets and floors may require evaluation.
