Disassembly preserves the original locking system when the planks can be removed without damage. Baseboards or transitions may need to be temporarily removed. For a plank located far from a wall, some products permit the damaged piece to be cut out. Portions of the replacement locking profile may then be modified and secured using an approved adhesive. The substrate should be inspected for debris, moisture, low areas, or damage before the replacement is installed. A matching attic-stock plank provides the best fit, although stored flooring may initially appear different because the existing floor has aged or been exposed to traffic.
