Oil stains may require a stone poultice that draws contamination from the pores over repeated applications.
Surface cleaner may remove fresh oil before it penetrates. Once absorbed, the stone can darken below the surface. A poultice combines an absorbent material with chemistry selected for the stain and stone. Strong solvents should not be used without guidance because they can spread the stain, damage sealer, or create fumes.
