Laminate flooring is not designed to withstand the heat or the volume of moisture produced by steam cleaners. Even if the surface appears sealed, steam can force moisture into the seams and tongue-and-groove joints. Once moisture enters the HDF core, the wood fibers expand, leading to irreversible swelling, cupping, or the deterioration of the decorative surface. Most manufacturers strictly forbid steam cleaners, recommending instead dry or damp mopping with specific, non-saturating solutions.
