Bathrooms present a unique challenge due to extreme humidity, potential standing water from tubs or showers, and small, intricate spaces. Loose lay vinyl performs exceptionally well here because, unlike wood or laminate, the material itself is impervious to water. This means you do not have to worry about the planks swelling or buckling due to the bathroom environment. The flexibility of the product also makes it easy to install around tricky fixtures like toilets and pedestals. However, a professional installation is critical in bathrooms. Because the floor is not glued down in a solid, sealed sheet, you must prevent water from working its way underneath. Applying a small, flexible silicone bead around the perimeter—covered by a baseboard or shoe molding—can create an effective water barrier. This ensures that any surface splashes or overflows remain on the top of the flooring where they can be easily wiped away. As always, ensure the bathroom subfloor is clean and dry before installation to prevent any potential mold issues underneath.
