Carpet tile is installed as individual modules rather than broad rolls. Damaged or stained tiles can often be replaced without removing the entire room. Multiple colors or patterns can also be combined. The floor beneath the tiles must be smooth and clean. Some products use pressure-sensitive adhesive, peel-and-stick backing, or loose-lay systems. Carpet tile generally feels firmer than broadloom over cushion. Seams may remain visible as part of the modular appearance.
